Ashish Gadnis, CEO and co-founder of BanQu, took part in a blockchain panel at the Milken Institute’s 2018 Global Conference.

In 2018, BanQu co-founder and CEO Ashish Gadnis was invited to speak at the Milken Institute’s Global Conference. He was part of an hour-long panel where blockchain experts shared their opinions and excitement about where the technology is headed.

When asked to explain how BanQu is using blockchain to lift disadvantaged families out of poverty in the Congo, Gadnis said:

People who live in extreme poverty exist in supply chains, but technically don’t… What if we used blockchain, without the cryptocurrency side, and what if [a financially disadvantaged farmer in the Congo] would be able to build an economic passport that proved her identity beyond just an identity card? It would allow us to prove her harvest. It would allow us to prove the transparency with which she was growing her crops, and that record would be immutable… she would own it.
